Whatsabudget Films, the indie film arm of ACM, began working on making short films in the summer of 2012. We had big dreams for these no-budget indies, and as the new year kicked off, we have begun taking steps to realize those dreams. With 2012 marking the year that we began down this road, 2013 will stand as the year we began sending these passion projects of ours into the film festival circuit.
For now we have begun keeping things local, by edging into Colorado area festivals, and as of today, we will have two of our three shorts entered into indie short film competitions!
Mile High Horror Film Festival
If you are not familiar with The Mile High Horror Film Festival then you are missing out on one of Colorado’s premiere festivals with a strict focus on the horror movie genre. Last year when we shot Beware the Masked One, I did so with hopes of getting the short into this years festival. And we did! We are officially in consideration!
“It’s been thirteen years since Carol somehow survived almost drowning, and if her dreams are any indication…she is not quite out of the woods yet. With the appearance of a mysterious stranger, and her haunting dream lingering in her mind, Carol’s day is headed straight into the black!”
First Annual Spring Short Film Festival
Then we learned of a new opportunity for our shorts, and we have decided to enter our very first short film, Cashing Out, in the new Spring Short Film Festival! Given that this was our very first short film, it will always hold a special place in our hearts, so we are ever so proud to announce its entry into this budding new festival of shorts.
“An unknown writer struggles to write the perfect piece…even if it kills him.”
The Free Dowloads
We are proud of the work we have managed to do, and as such we are delighted to offer anyone interested in either film, a free download of both shorts we have entered into the local Colorado film festival circuit.
